Giants Amani Toomer came up big in this NFC East rematch. he finished the day with 9 catches for 109 yards and 1 TD.

Philadelphia Eagles'
Stat Of The Week

The Eagles have now lost eight straight games to the Giants having been swept in each of the last 4 seasons. On a brighter note, Brian Mitchell gained 57 yards on 3 punts and becoming the all-time leader on overall return yardage. Ironically, he passed former Giant Dave Meggett for the top spot overall in NFL history.
Giants Sweep Season Series With
Convincing 24-7 Victory Over Birds

It does not appear that Eagles will win the division now after losing to the Giants for the second time and falling to 5-4 overall. They still have an excellant shot of earning a wildcard spot if they win the games they should the rest of the way. Though the New York Giants don't look all that impressive most of time, they seem to always play well against the Eagles. The Giants really took it to the Eagles most of the day. In fact, the Birds did not even score any points until McNabb completed a 25 yard pass to Charles Johnson with about 5 minutes left in the game. Just look at these numbers: Only 8 first downs; 1-11 on third downs; 192 total yards offense with 72 total yards rushing. Not Good if you are an Eagles fan. Donovan McNabb finished the day 10 of 31 for 120 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. McNabb threw the ball at the feet and behind the receivers all day long. All this with not a tremendous amount of pressure from the Giants defensive line. McNabb was only sacked twice. He has to make some plays if the Eagles are to have a chance to win a game, especially since the injury to the Eagles #1 offensive weapon in Duce Staley is out for the season.

The Giants on the other hand gained 384 total yards with 152 of them coming from the running game. For the most part, the Eagles played the Giants well on defense limiting Tiki Barber to only 52 yards and most of Ron Dayne's 92 yards came in the forth quarter as the Giants wore down the Eagles D as they were on the field most of the day. Kerry Collins also had another exceptional day versus the Birds as he completed 22 of 37 passes for 232 yards and 1 TD. The one area that the Eagles excelled in was special teams. During the second half, the Giants fumbled 4 times on special teams, but recovered each and every time. It seemed like the wind effected the way Donovan McNabb was passing and really never got it going at all. The time of possession in the end proved to be the big difference as the Giants held the ball for over 43 minutes compared to the Eagles 19. The Eagles did not make many mistakes by turning the ball over or even making many killer penalties as most were on special teams. But the Eagles never got the offense going. Nobody had more than 1 reception except Pritchett who only had 3 for 25 yards. But it was Kerry Collins clutch plays in the first half while converting 7 for 17 on third downs prove to be the big difference in the game as the New York led 14-0 at the half and never looked back. Well, hopefully the Birds will get it together next week for their rematch with the Dallas Cowboys.
