Donovan McNabb is pressured here in the second quarter. He finished the day 19 for 29 and 280 yards passing, 1 INT and 2 TD.

Philadelphia Eagles' Stat Of The Week

Philadelphia's next game is on Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. They are 2-1 all-time on Thursday nights, with a win over Buffalo in 1981, a loss to Indianapolis in 1996 and a win over the Rams in 1998. The eagles are 1-2 lifetime versus the Chiefs with a win at KC in 1972 and losses in 1992 at Arrowhead and a loss in 1998 at the Vet.
Donovan Has His Worst Day As
Eagles Get Chopped Down & Skinned

What happened was that Donovan McNabb had his worst day as a professional quarterback. He only completed 15 of his 27 passes for a career low of 92 yards and no touchdowns. The Eagles only managed a total of 186 yards with 33 of them coming on a last play scramble by Donovan McNabb. This all against the 25th rated defense in the NFL. On his 25th birthday, Donovan looked lost and confused for most of the day. If not for a personal foul penalty by LaVar Arrington which he was goaded by Tra Thomas after a cheap shot, the Eagles could of faced thier first shutout at home since that opening day debacle versus the Seahawks in 1998. The Redskins only touchdown came on a play where it appeared Hollis Thomas had stopped Ki-Jana Carter for a loss behind the line of scrimage, but Carter managed to escape and run into the endzone for the game's only touchdown. The only other blunders by the defense came late in the fourth quarter when they failed to stop Tony Banks from going down the field. The drive led to a game clinching 32 yard field goal by the Redskin's Brett Conway.

The Redskin's ultra conservative offense allowed the Eagles to stay in the game. If the Eagles could of converted those two fourth down plays deep in Washington's territory in the forth quarter, the Eagles may have even pulled this one out. Though the Redskins rushed for 155 yards, the Eagles defense held Washington in check most of the day, especially in the second half of the game. The Eagles also clinched a non-winnning record at home where they are now 2-4. Philadelphia has never made the playoffs without a winning record at home. The loss also put the Eagles at 6-4 on the season, but they still maintained thier first place status in the very weak NFC East. The Redskins on the other hand improved to 5-5, 1 game out and even more impressively became the first NFL team in history to lose their first 5 games and come back and win their next 5. Ki-Jana Carter's first quarter touchdown was his first TD since 1999, when he was with the Bengals. Tony Banks only passed for 96 yards against the NFL's #1 ranked passing defense, but did not commit any turnovers. In fact, the Redskins ran the ball 45 times compared to only 18 passing plays.

The Eagles defense on a whole played pretty good allowing only 13 total points to the Skins. The Eagles have now gone 26 straight games without giving up more than 24 points. the longest streak of it's kind is held by the Minnesota Vikings when they went 31 straight games from 1973-1975. Philadelphia is also the only team this year that has not allowed more than 21 points in any game this year. Also the Birds have allowed just one sack in their last 3 games. The Eagles must now forget about this game in a hurry as they face the Chiefs in 4 days on Thursday. Kansas City is currently 3-7 on the season and in last place in the AFC West. Philadelphia will get one more chance at redemption versus the Washington Redskins when they meet in 3 weeks at FedEx Field. Last year, Donovan McNabb lost the first game against the Redskins when he threw a terrible interception which led to a 17-14 win at the Vet only to lead the way late in the season at Wshington with an Eagles 23-20 win.
