Donovan McNabb is now considered to be in a real "pitchers"
slump. His stats are as follows: 18 for 48, 186 yards, 1 fumble
lost, 2 interceptions and was sacked 7 times. A 39% completion rate
was his second worst in his career.

Philadelphia Eagles' Stat Of The Week
STAT #1 -- The first time since 1933 (the Eagles first season ever) that
the Eagles lost their opening two games by 17 or more points. STAT #2 --
The 6 turnovers were the most since the Eagles had 7 against the Rams in
1985, a span of 303 games. The last time they had 6 were against the
Bears in 1989. STAT #3 -- The seven sacks the Eagles allowed were the most
since Donovan's McNabb first game ever back in 1999 against the Bucs in
game 2 of a very long season then. David Akers 57-yard field goal was
the second longest in Eagles' history. Of course, Tony Franklin holds
the record of 59 yards on a Monday Night game versus Dallas back in 1979.

Crushing Defeat At The Hands Of
The Patriots Has Put Eagles At 0-2.
"From Bad To Worse" sums up the game as best as anything I have read.
That was what the Bucks County Courier Times had written as their
headline in Monday's newspaper after another disastrous loss against
the New England Patriots. It was also another ugly loss versus an AFC
team. The Eagles are now 1-4 in their last 5 games versus the AFC with
their only victory over the expansion Houston Texans last year. The
defense ravaged by injuries fought hard during the first half. The
second half, the defense had no more fight and the Patriots breezed
to a 31-10 win. The only bright spots for the Eagles came again with
David Akers and the Eagles rush defense. Akers kicked a 57-yard FG
with 10:48 left in the game. It was the second longest FG in Eagles
history. The Eagles defense once again stopped all rushing in its
tracks, allowing only 62 total yards on the ground. The bye week
could not have come at a better time. But their next opponent is
the 2-0 Buffalo Bills, who walloped both these same Patriots and
the Jacksonville Jaguars by a combined 69-17 points. The Eagles
on the other hand, have been outscored 48-10 and are now 0-2 on
the season.
How could this happen you say? Well 6 turnovers to start is one.
Another excuse could be all the injuries on defense that they have
suffered. Philadelphia has already lost Derrick Burgess and Jamaal
Green to season ending injuries. Both Jerome McDougle and Brandon
Whiting are hurt, while Paul Grasmanis tore his Achilles tendon
yesterday and is also out for the rest of the season. That is just
the defensive line. Bobby Taylor and Brian Dawkins are out from the
secondary. Along with all those injuries and a 0-6 turnover ration
in this game spell disaster and that's what happened. On offense,
McNabb was also a disaster. He finished the day passing 46 times.
He only completed 18 total passes, a 39% completion rate. He also
had 2 interceptions and another fumble. What is wrong with McNabb?
Just like the Phillies starting pitchers: Randy Wolf, Brett Myers
and Kevin Millwood, McNabb is one major slump. If he does not get
his act together soon, there will be no season to salvage. Donovan
McNabb personally turned over the ball 3 times himself, which
directly led to 14 points. Most teams lose when that happens and
that is exactly what happened to the Philadelphia Eagles.
New England took an early3-0 lead on Adam Vinatieri's 27-yard FG with
1:10 left in the first. At the start of the second quarter, McNabb
connected on a 21-yard pass to Correll Buckhalter who took the ball
down to the Pats 11-yard line. Duce Staley pushed the Eagles into
lead with a 2-yard TD run. Then New England went on to score 21
straight points before Akers kicked that long 57-yard FG in the
fourth quarter. But by then, it was already too late. Along with
the 6 turnovers, the offense also allowed 7 sacks and committed
7 penalties. The eagles are now 0-2 for the first time since 1999.
The only saving grace so far this season is they still have 14 games
left starting in two weeks. After the Buffalo game, they will host
the Redskins at Lincoln Financial field. Let's hope McNabb and the
offense get their act together and start scoring some more points.
If they don't, it could very be a very long season of losing. There
is lot's of time left and as we know from experience, Andy Reid
always finds a way to rally the troops after bad losses and he has
a pretty good record coming off the bye week. We shall see.
