2004 Philadelphia Eagles Season Bye Week
The 2004 NFL Season Finally Brings A Real feeling That The With The Signings
Of T.O. and Jevon Kearse Will Finally Push The Eagles Into The Super Bowl!!!

2004 NFL Regular Season Bye Week Monday October 11, 2004 FREE

Donovan McNabb is having a MVP season so far. He had led in both passing yards and Qb rating going into the bye week. Culpepper has passed him in both catagories. But for the season, here is what McNabb has done: QB rating (110.0); total passing yards (1,168 or 297/game); completion rate (68.1%); 9 TD passes and only 1 INT. He has only been sacked 8 times, that is 2 per game. If he would to continue on this pace and the Eagles continue to win, he will be a strong candidate and possible an overwhelming choice for the NFL MVP award this season.

Philadelphia Eagles'
Stat Of The Week

The New England Patriots broke the all-time NFL record of consecutive wins in a row at 19 after they beat the Miami Dolphins 24-10 on Sunday. During this streak, the Eagles are the second best at 15-3. Also, during the streak, the Washington Redskins are the only team not to win 2 games in a row, but were the last team to actually beat the Patriots. They won 20-17 back on September 28, 2003 in FedEX Field.

Birds Take Aim For Home Field
As Second Part Of Season Starts

It sure looks like destiny and the NFL is on the Eagles side so far this season. They are now the only left in the NFC with an unblemished record. This fact is mainly due to the St. Louis Rams, who had an amazing comeback from 27-10 against the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams won in overtime, 33-27. Also, the poor play of Michael Vick in the Falcons loss to the Lions assured that the Eagles were in fact the only undefeated team left in the NFC. These were the same Lions who only 2 weeks ago were thoroughly embarrassed by the Eagles at home in Detroit. Detroit is 3-1 as is Minnesota who lost its only game in Philly on a Monday night game. And what about those New York Giants; who are now 4-1 after crushing the Cowboys down in the “Big D”. They are too now 4-1. Only the Bears have a losing a record out of the teams who went down in defeat to Philadelphia this year. Those four teams are now a combined 11-2 when not playing the Eagles. The Eagles have also beaten every opponent by at least 10 or more points. No other team can even come close to that. New England and the Jets are both 4-0 in the AFC, but most of their games were close on the scoreboard. They however play each other twice and meet in two weeks at the Meadowlands. The question around town is not how many wins will the Eagles win, but which team can actually beat them. As of now, the Eagles defense is second in the NFL in points allowed, trailing only Seattle. Their offense is second best behind the Colts, however Donovan McNabb is still the NFL’s best QB. Brian Westbrook is right up there with Tiki Barber in overall yards gained. Terrell Owens is now second only to Randy Moss in TD receptions. Lastly, David Akers leads all kickers in the NFC in scoring and only trails Jason Elam by 4 points, but Denver has played an extra game now.

So I ask you now again, who can really beat these Philadelphia Eagles the rest of the season? As long as there are no real setbacks like injuries or players going into any major slumps, who can really beat the Eagles anymore this regular season. This week, the Carolina Panthers travel to South Philly. They are a reeling team without the services of DeShaun Foster and Steve Smith. Not Likely! Then Cleveland and Baltimore appear on the schedule. Cleveland is not playing very well though they are tough at home. Baltimore has a great defense, but their offense is terrible. They are already without Todd Heap (one of the AFC’s best tight ends) and now the NFL conveniently suspended Jamaal Lewis for 2 games. They actually allowed him to play the Redskins Sunday night. Chalk up 3 more wins and that puts the Birds at 7-0 going into Pittsburgh. The Steelers are playing great, but who’d they beat: Oakland, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Miami. Huh! But at least before they play Philly, the must first play Dallas and New England. The Eagles could be 8-0 before going to Dallas on Monday night. But after watching the G-Men dispose of the Pokes last week, the Cowboys might have been put back in place. The Birds also have a bad Washington team twice, Cincinnati, Dallas at home, another reeling team in Green Bay, the Giants and Rams. All should be wins say maybe New York and St. Louis. So we are looking at a possible 14-2 or maybe 15-1 right now. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves yet. The Eagles will probably stub their toe along the way 1 or 2 times, but who knows. 16-0 would be a great way to finish this season with all hopes of getting to the Promised Land once and for all. It sure will be fun getting there too, but for now, let’s enjoy the ride one game at a time. But for going at least 13-3 or 14-2, it looks more likely than at the beginning of the season when most people thought 12-4 would be about right. Don’t forget about the teams road record which is the NFL’s best over the past 5 years, so those two tough games in St. Louis and New York near the end of the season could prove to be just more explanation marks on a truly incredible season.
