EAGLES SIGN WONDER-SACKMAN JEVON KEARSE
The Eagles announced that they have signed free agent defensive end
Jevon Kearse to an eight-year contract. One of the National Football
League's premiere defensive ends, the 27-year-old Kearse brings an
impressive resume to Philadelphia. A three-time Pro Bowl selection,
Kearse earned Rookie of the Year honors after setting an NFL rookie
record with 14.5 sacks. He also became the first rookie in NFL history
to lead a conference in sacks.

DHANI JONES TO REPLACE EMMONS AT LB
Dhani Jones inked a five-year contract Tuesday to join the Eagles linebacking corps.
Jones, who has played all three linebacker positions in his career, said he expects
to play the SAM spot in Jim Johnson's defense. Originally a sixth-round draft pick from
Michigan, the 6 feet 1, 240-pound Jones combines excellent speed and instincts with
the ability to fly to the ball. Jones missed his entire rookie season with the Giants
because of a knee injury and played primarily on special teams in 2001. But he cracked
the starting lineup in 2002 and ranked third on the team with 101 total tackles.

T.O. IS FINALLY AN EAGLE
Terrell Owens said he and quarterback Donovan McNabb go together like "peanut
butter and jelly." The Philadelphia Eagles hope that combination clicks for the
next seven years. Before a decision was to be rendered on whether Owens was
eligible to become an unrestricted free agent, the Eagles acquired the talented
but temperamental National Football League receiver and signed him to a seven-year
contract. Financial terms were not disclosed, but Owens received a signing bonus
of more than 10 million dollars.

EAGLES MOVE UP TO CHOOSE
ANDREWS WITH 16th PICK
The Eagles acquired the 16th overall pick from San Francisco and selected Arkansas
All-American tackle Shawn Andrews. In order to move up 12 spots, the Eagles sent
their first and second-round picks, 28th and 58th overall, to the 49ers.
Andrews (6-4¼, 345), who came out as a junior, is considered the second-best
offensive lineman in the draft behind Iowa's Robert Gallery.

TROTTER & DOUGLAS WELCOMED BACK
First Jeremiah Trotter was cut by the Redskins, and then later Hugh Douglas
was cut by Jacksonville. Both were welcomed back with open arms by Andy Reid
and the Eagles management. Douglas left the nest after playing his last game
against Tampa Bay in the 2002 NFC Championship game. Trotter left after the 2001
NFC Championship game in St. Louis, the Eagles first trip to the championship
game since 1980. Both players had rough outings after leaving Philly, but both
will fit right in as they are both familar with how Jimmy Johnson runs the defense.
