The Giants' Plaxico Burress, left, runs down the sideline past the Eagles' Sheldon Brown en route to a 61-yard reception and touchdown. Burress finished the game catching 6 passes for 113 yards and 1 touchdown. This TD gave the Giants an almost insurmountable lead of 27-17 with just 5:24 left in the game. On this play, Brown seemed to slow down for an instant and that is all it took for Plaxico to race to the endzone.

Philadelphia Eagles'
Stat Of The Week

The Philadelphia Eagles fell to 0-4 in the NFC East for the first time since 1986. The Eagles allowed 14 fourth-quarter points in two straight losses, both to the Giants this week and the Cowboys last week. This is the first time they've allowed 14 fourth-quarter points in consecutive games since the last month of 1998, when they allowed 17 in a 17-3 loss to the Cardinals in Tempe, then they allowed 17 in a 24-21 loss to the Chiefs in Kansas City. The Eagles were also held scoreless in the first half for the first time since Nov 10, 2003, when they came back against the Packers to win 17-14 on a rainy Monday night game at Lambeau Field. Manning's 61-yard bomb to Burress was the longest TD pass the Eagles allowed since Doug Flutie's 61-yarder to Jeff Graham in the Eagles' win over the Chargers on Dec 9, 2001. Until Reggie Brown's TD, the Giants defense went 244+ minutes and 53 possessions over 15 quarters without allowing a touchdown. Giants punter Jeff Feagles, a former Eagle, tied an NFL record for playing in his 282nd consecutive game. It ties the record with Jim Marshall, who played in 282 consecutive games from 1960 through 1969.

Eagles Fail To On Both Sides Of Ball,
And Lose For The 4th Straight Game.

Mike McMahon finally got his chance to start, as McNabb will be operated on right after Thanksgiving. He got off to a very rocky start throwing for a grand total of 81 yards in the first half. He actually finished the game with 298 total passing yards, completing only 18-of-39. He also threw 1 INT, although he did have 1 TD pass. Those numbers were not why the Eagles lost however. The Eagles defense allowed too many big plays and after falling behind 10-0 at the half, but they never seemed to be able to catch up. The Philadelphia Eagles now fell to 4-6 and these 6 losses are the most for the team since 2000. It was a weird game as the Eagles defense held the Giants to only 83 total yards in the first half. And if not for a blocked punt and a poor pass interference call, the Eagles would of only been down 3 or 6 points.

The Eagles offense came out cold as ice, but the defense came out on fire. The defense even sacked Eli Manning 5 times during the game, but 4 of them were in the first half. They had Manning running around like a chicken without a head. But as good as this defense was in the first half, they were just the complete opposite in the second half, allowing Manning to roll up 232 total yards with 2 TD passes: a 1-yd pass to Jeremy Shockley and that back-breaking 61-yd TD pass to Plaxico Burress. On the play, Sheldon Brown fell down after a short gain and Burress had nothing but an empty field in front of him on his way to the end zone. At the time, the Plaxico TD reception gave the Giants a 27-17 lead with just 5:24 left in the game.

Perhaps the biggest moment in the game took place late in the third quarter after the Giants Jay Feely kicked a FG to extend the New York lead to 13-7. The Eagles defense had played exceptionally well up to then, except for the 55-yard run by Tiki Barber, which helped to set up that 27-yd FG. Anyway, Eagles QB Mike McMahon orchestrated a nice 8-play 78-yard drive setting up a first-and-goal and a chance for Philadelphia to take the lead. The Eagles failed to score on three plays and settled for a chipshot FG to cut the lead to 13-10. Funny thing, why was Brian Westbrook on the sidelines for all 3 plays? The defense then proceeded to implode allowing 2 more TD drives of 69 and 80 yards respectively. That basically sealed the deal for those New York Giants. Now the Eagles have lost four straight games. Where will it end? At least next week, they play the lowly 2-9 Green Bay Packers. If they lose that one, you can really say these Eagles flew south for the winter.
