Jacksonville Jaguars Fred Taylor, center, celebrates with teammates Derrick Winbush, left, and Khalif Barnes, after scoring a first-quarter touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. It turned out to be the games only touchdown play and the winning score. The Philadelphia Eagles have never beaten the Jacksonville Jaguars and are now 0-3 all-time against them.

Philadelphia Eagles'
Stats Of The Week

The Jaguars 46 carries are the most against the Eagles since the Steelers had 56 in 2004. Jacksonville's 209 rushing yards are the most against the Eagles in a regular-season home game since the Giants had 209 at the Vet in 1998. McNabb's 161 passing yards are his fewest in a regular-season home game since he had 141 against the Jets in 2003. The Jags' 76 net passing yards are the fewest allowed by the Eagles since the Cowboys had 61 on Sept. 30, 2001. The last time the Eagles lost despite allowing only 76 or less passing yards was back on Sept. 19, 1999, when they fell to Tampa Bay, 19-5 at the Vet despite holding the Bucs to only 64 passing yards. Brian Westbrook's eight catches are a season-high for any Eagle this year and the most since he had 10 against the Chargers last Oct. 23. Opposing teams now have converted six of 11 fourth-downs this year. The Eagles are 0-for4.

The Jaguars Running Game Proved To
Be Too Much In The Eagles 13-6 Loss.

What you saw Sunday was not your usually coached Andy Reid teams. I don’t know what you call that. It was definitely was uninspiring and a total disgrace. Yes, there were worse losses last season, namely Seattle for one. But that team had no QB, RB or WR of any talent. The Eagles were decimated by injuries and a certain Terrell Owens ripped the team spirit apart. This team that played yesterday has only “1” injury of note, Jevon Kearse. No excuses this time. The Eagles came out flat and played in a fog all day long. The offense never really got it going. The defense played OK, except against the run. The Jaguars amassed 209 rushing yards, while only managing 87 passing yards. The Jaguars starting QB was hurt. Their starting fullback is out for the season as is their starting middle linebacker. This was supposed to be a team ripe for the taking. Instead, the Jaguars were more like a herd of runaway buffaloes that stampeded through a defense that couldn’t stop an old lady with a cane today. Fred Taylor rushed only 15 times, but gained 103 yards. Back-up running back Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 77 yards bon 21 carries. And lastly, QB David Gerrard ran 8 times for 36 yards and a couple of huge first downs, when the Jags should have been forced to punt.

As bad as the Eagles rush defense was, the entire Eagles offense was worse. Starting QB Donovan McNabb to all the receivers, nobody is safe from criticism after this game. The NFL’s #1 offense looked totally inept and never even came close to the end zone and settled for 2 David Akers FG’s (25 & 28 yards) with both occurring in the second half. The Eagles only managed 3 points through the first 59 ½ minutes. That is pretty sad considering they were scoring an average of 28.6 points through the first seven games. The defense played well against the pass, holding Gerrard to just 87 passing yards on a 10-for-17 performance. The only minus was that they rarely got pressure on the Jags QB, which allowed him to escape the pocket and rush 8 different times. As a team, the Eagles only managed 85 rushing yards, while Donovan McNabb only completed 18-of-34 passes for 161 yards. Most of those yards were late in the second half. Jacksonville won 13-6 and outgained the Eagles in total yardage, 285-227. It felt more like 24-6. Oh, and Jacksonville also won the time of possession, 37-23 minutes. I can’t really remember such a lame total team effort in such a long time with a pretty healthy Philadelphia Eagles team.

There were some good (mad) Andy Reid quotes after this game. “The game was completely my responsibility for not getting my football team ready to play. It was embarrassing. It was embarrassing on my part, and the job that I did, and it trickled down to the players and the coaches.” Reid continued, “You’re not going to win football games in the National Football League playing like we did there. We’ve got to get it together here, and we’ve got a week to figure it out.” The game started out bad and only got worse. After a quick 3-and-out first possession for the Eagles, a terrible resulting punt set-up the Jaguars with excellent field position at the Eagles 48-yard line. A 7-play, 48-yard drive exclusively via the ground game gave the Jags the game’s only touchdown. Jacksonville had many chances to put the game away, but their own ineptness along with big plays by the Eagles defense held the Jaguars from scoring anymore TD’s the rest of the afternoon. It seemed as though the Eagles started every drive from their own 15-yard line, while the Jags were starting from mid-field all day long. After a 40-yd FG with 6:09 left in the third quarter to give the Jaguars a 10-0 ead, the Eagles finally managed a drive of their own. McNabb drove the Eagles 59-yards on 13 plays before the drive stalled. Akers kicked his second FG with just 31 seconds left in the game to complete the game’s scoring. We’ll see how the team will react out of the bye week, as an Andy Reid team has never lost. The Eagles are currently 7-0 after the bye week with Andy Reid as the Eagles head coach.

Photos From The EAGLES Regular Season Game #8

Eagles' Dirk Johnson gets a punt off as he is shoved by the Jaguars' Jorge Cordova in the first half. The play should of been a personal foul and a first down for the Birds.

Jaguars' Maurice Jones-Drew (32) is tackled in the third quarter by Eagles' LB Matt McCoy. he gained 5 yards on this play and finished with 77 yards rushing on 21 carries.

Philadelphia Eagles receiver L.J. Smith can't hold onto a pass as he is covered by Jacksonville Jaguars Deon Grant, left, and Dee Webb in the second half of the game Sunday. It was just one of many dropped passes by an Eagles' player.

Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio hugs Daryl Smith after Smith recovered an on-side-kick by the Eagles late in the fourth quarter. The Jaguars won 13-6.
