Philadelphia Eagles Donovan McNabb celebrates his 1-yard TD pass to wide receiver Reggie Brown to give the team a 7-3 lead during action in the second quarter. McNabb completed just 23 of 41 passes for 208 yards, but threw no interceptions. McNabb had a QB rating of 78.1 and actually rushed 9 times for 53 yards too.

Philadelphia Eagles'
Stats Of The Week

The Philadelphia Eagles defense held the NFL's #2 offense to witout a touchdown. It was the first time since a game without a TD since a game with the Cincinnati bengals back in 2004. The Eagles defense also held Tony Romo to a career-worst performance. His final QB rating for the game was a 22.2, while he threw 3 INT's and no TD's. It is the lowest QB rating against the Eagles since Eli Manning had a 16.9 in 2004. The Cowboys were 1-for-11 on third down. That's the Eagles' best since they held the Cowboys to 0-for-12 here on Dec. 21, 2002. David Akers field goal gave him 884 points, breaking the franchise record of 881 set by Bobby Walston from 1951 through 1962. The Eagles have held the Cowboys to single digits in four of the last seven games at Texas Stadium. The Cowboys had just one rushing first down for the first time since Dec. 6, 1998, when they had one at New Orleans. The Cowboys 53 rushing yards is their fewest since they had 50 at Washington on Sept. 27, 2004. Brian Dawkins 4th quarter INT was his first this season and first since he picked off Romo here in Dallas last Christmas Day. Lito Sheppard's INT was his 8th in his last eight games against the Cowboys and his 5th straight game against Dallas with at least 1 INT. During that same span, he has 8 in 44 games against everybody else. lastly, Trent Cole's fourth-quarter sack gave him 12 ½, the most by an Eagle since Hugh Douglas had 15 in 2000.

Total Domination On Defense Against
The Cowboys & Tony Romo Wins Game.

The unthinkable happened on Sunday. The Philadelphia Eagles traveled down to Dallas to play the Cowboys at Texas Stadium and they thumped ‘em Pokes! Though the scoreboard showed just that the Eagles only won 10-6, it was much better for the team in midnight green and much worse for the boys in white & blue. The Eagles 8th ranked NFL defense held the NFL’s #2 offense to only 240 total yards and they held Terrell Owens to 2 lousy catches. His 2 completions came late in the 4th quarter. That defense harassed Tony Romo all game long, sacking him four times and forced 3 INT’s. Romo had his worse game a pro-QB in the NFL. His QB rating was a minuscule 22.2 as he completed only 36.1% of his passes (13-for-36) for just 214 passing yards. This mean-green defense also held the vaunted Dallas running game to 53 rushing yards. The Cowboys Pro-Bowl running back Marian Barber managed just 32 rushing yards.

The Philadelphia offense wasn’t spectacular, but they also did not make any mistakes. McNabb was sacked four times and hit more often than not. He still managed to complete 23-of-41 passes for 208 passing yards. He threw the game’s only TD, a 2nd-quarter 1-yarder to Reggie Brown giving the Eagles the lead for good at 7-3 with just 16 seconds left till halftime. McNabb also rushed 9 times for 53 yards, including a nice 28-yard scamper that setup the game’s only TD. Though Philadelphia should of had another TD to seal the game at 17-6 with 2:16 left in the game. A funny thing happened as Brian Westbrook was on his way to the endzone in the closing seconds. But it was Brian Dawkins, who stepped in front of a fallen T.O. to intercept a pass with just 2:50 left. The Dallas defense stopped the Eagles on first and second downs forcing a 3rd-and-9 situation. Dallas used up the rest of their timeouts. McNabb went back for a pass and found rookie TE Brent Celek open for the biggest catch of his early NFL career. The pass went for 29 yards right down the middle of the field. Meanwhile in the huddle, the Eagle all-pro tackle Jon Runyan told Pro-Bowl RB Brian Westbrook, “Listen, if get down to the 1, take a knee.” So on 1st-and-10 from the Cowboys’ 25-yard line, Westbrook broke through freely for an easy TD. He went right through the Dallas secondary. He had a clear path to paydirt, but took that knee at the 1-yard line. Dallas had no more timeouts left and McNabb then proceeded to kneel down 3 more times to end the game!

It was another whooping in Dallas as the Eagles kept their faint playoff hopes alive. But later on, with both Washington and Minnesota winning, the dream of playing in the post season went away like an early summer morning fog on a hot day. But these Eagles still accomplished something no other NFC team could do, and that is by beating the Cowboys in Dallas. And they looked good doing it! After halftime, Dallas would make it close by adding a FG halfway through the third quarter to cut the Eagles lead down to 7-6. Dallas had the ball a few more times, but like always during the game, the Eagles defense stopped Dallas in their tracks time after time. Then at the start of the 4th quarter, McNabb drove the Birds on a 13-play time consuming drive to put the Eagles in FG position. The 60-yard drive ate up 6:21 off the clock. It featured a 14-yard pass to Brent Celek on the first play. McNabb gained another first down on a 3rd-down QB sneak. Then Brian Westbrook took a screen pass for 18 more yards. David Akers eventually kicked a 21-yard field goal to make the score 10-6 and the Eagles really never looked back. Before the Dawkins INT, the previous Cowboys’ possession looked promising as they had a first down on the Eagles 45-yard line. The Cowboys offense misfired again as Romo missed on consecutive passes to Owens. Then a false start had the Cowboys in a 3rd-and 15 situation. On third down, Trent Cole broke through and sacked Romo and caused the QB to fumble. Luckily for Dallas, Jason Witten was there for the recovery or else, the Eagles would have had excellent field position. It was a great victory and could cement McNabb’s return for next season. It’s just too bad the Bears could not hold a 12-3 lead at halftime. Now all we got forward to is the 2008 draft.
